I think the the bell housing on the Chevette 4-speed is also used as part of the front case to hold the bearings and such. It's been awhile since i folled with a 4-speed so my memory is a little fuzzy. Honestly in my opinion if your going to put a bigger engine in the can and really get on it i don't think that the 4-speed would hold up.
