I haven't put one of these on a Chevette, but placed an in-line coolant heater / circulator on a Ford truck last fall. I bought it at NAPA auto parts. You put it in the lower radiator hose, once you plug it up, it starts heating and circulating the coolant. It worked really well!
You might give that a try!
Also Moroso makes a magnetic pad that sticks to the oil pan. You plug it in just like the coolant heater and it warms the engine oil. Either one or a combination of both should keep your Chevette engine toasty
