Now thats its getting colder i've been letting the car warm up for a couple minutes before driving. This has of coursed caused my mpg to drop and now that gas has wandered back over $3 a gallon i'm looking at ways to help gas milage. My thinking is that putting a block heater in the car could do about the same thing as idling the car for a couple minutes but at a lower cost.
Has anybody ever put a block heater in a gas Chevette? Also what are some things to look out for if i do this, i've never lived where these are a necessity so i don't have any experiance with them? Does anybody have any thoughts on the freeze plug heaters, do they have a negative impact on coolant flow?
Thanks guys
