I replied to your email, but for others needing this information...
The 76 - 78 block is .207" shorter than the 79 - 87 blocks. The early blocks used a 99 tooth timing belt, while the later blocks used a 100 tooth timing belt. The 99 tooth belt was a bit thinner than the 100 tooth belt, but for apparent reasons, can't be used on the later blocks, unless the head has been shaved ALOT (+.100). Early models had a 1 piece crank gear / seal sleeve, while later models had a 2 piece crank gear and sleeve that was seperate. They are interchangeable from 76 - 87.
I have found the 2 piece to be easier to remove than the 1 piece. Some come right off, some you have to work on for awhile. A small steering wheel type puller can be used on some, i've had to use a combination of that and a brass punch on some as well. It is easiest to remove this with the crank out of the engine.
1.4 L Bore x Stroke = 3.228" x 2.606" 85 CI
1.6 L Bore x Stroke = 3.228" x 2.980" 98 CI
