It's a Chevette Sandpiper and it was originally bought in California. I bought the car in Auburn, Washington where I spotted it sitting abandoned and forlorn in a driveway. It needed a clutch and a muffler. I paid $50 for it. Apparently I'm the 3rd owner.
The advantage to the Canadian cars is that they didn't have any emission control devices. This one's got PAIR, EGR, a catalytic convertor and all sorts of other "smog" crap. But, it doesn't have a computer, the downfall of many of the later cars. When I lived in California the car was required to pass emission testing so the stuff was left intact. Now that I'm in Oregon, I'm going to strip all that junk (and save it) because this county has no emission testing.
I'm even considering a dual exhaust system to make use of that bit chin' HO split manifold.
More on all that as it develops.
