Last October I mentioned on the board that I decided, reluctantly, to sell my Chevette. I've had it for ten years and have enjoyed it immensly, but it was time to "thin the herd" as it were. ( You just can't keep 'em all! ) It's a 1980 HO 4 speed 2 door Sandpiper. It's a rust-free West Coast car with a near perfect body with the original paint. I said that the first $500 takes it.
The next day I received a phone call from a buyer who said he REALLY wanted the car and would arrange to fly out to pick it up and drive it home. That was to happen the first week of November.
So, I thought that being that he was going to drive it from Oregon to the Mid-West, it would be a good idea to check it out to make sure he had an uneventful trip home.
I changed the fuel filter, and the oil and filter. I topped off the coolant. I checked the timing belt and set the tension. I set the ignition timing and the idle mix and speed.
Then I took it for a last ride and it ran better than it had in years! Needless to say I was sorry I had given up my buddy of ten years.
Well, it's now December, and the guy was obviously a no-show. All talk and no action. No phone call. No e-mail. Nothing.
And I couldn't be happier!
So thanks to a flake named Scott Daniel I still have my Chevette and now I think I'll keep it forever!
