ahh its great isnt it! ive gotten a best of 49mpg. i was shocked too as i drove about that much then the pump clicked off after about 3 or 4 gallons....
was that with regular or midgrade or premiun gas?
maybe i should check my float height. i did partial rebuild on my carb when i got the car(new gaskets, diaphrams, used 2 cans of carb cleaner, and a new float and float valve) and i set the float to wher eit was specified. its been perfectly fine for the warm months (getting around 35mpg on regular E10) but now that its gotten colder, i think it plumeted... can u draw up a crude diagram to show where you measured the 5/8" from? i blive i have the same carb (car year is 1980) and either its me or somehitng but my mpg fluxuates wildly certian times... yet i drive the same route and same speeds/accel etc. like one tank i got 39mpg the next i got 27... its strange. and i recently looked down the carb after i got to school (bout 10 minutes @55mph) and it looked like the bowl overflowed... it was wet everywhere.
lol between thsi strange issue(runs and starts perfectly fine mind you) and the brakes being weird(i hate to say it but i belive my new rebuilt master is already biting the dust, worked great for about a week then it went back to its old symptoms of random pedal movement and squishy pedal(used to be high and firm, not its back to middle and squishy) its my 2nd orileys rebuilt one...
