Just drug my 1983 Scooter out of mothballs after about six months and remembered that I wasn't as happy as I should have been when I last drove it. I had just installed a rebuilt 5210 carb- $150.00 out of the box- a little "boggy" and not really the mileage I was expecting. So I just pulled the carb and opened it up, set the float to top out at 5/8", noted for future reference all the jet numbers and sizes and put the old girl back together. Tonight I drove 162 miles over the mountains between Kenai and Anchorage. Before I started the drive, I topped the tank up as full as I could possibly get it. When I arrived at my destination, I went straight to a gas station and topped it up again to see what kind of mileage I got. All I could get in the tank was 3.524 gallons before it overflowed. Now that totally blew my mind. A 25 year old throwaway car getting 45.9 miles to the gallon. Unbelieveable.........
