The text below is unedited, just like I received it, about a recent dyno test session (March 2003 ) involving one of my Chevette racing carbs.

dear bob,

> hey just thought i would write to fill you in on some good news(for you),after i got back from your house i went to huntleys to see if they still had the chevette motor on the dyno. fortunately for me they were testing different types of headers and carbs, one of your earlier editions supposedly the second one you done and one of there carbs, electronic with modified linkage to make the secondary open manually. i have to admit they had me worried at first because their carb was pulling equal horse power with more torque. your carb peaked hp at 6000 rpm before dropping off ,max hp 120.9. the torque peaked at 128 ft pds and dropped of quickley there carb peaked at 120.9 max hp at 6500 rpm there torque peaked at 135 ft pds and carried it through the run. im guessing that some one has changed things in your older carb or just messed it up playing with it. seeking redemption i had to wait untill today to bolt on the carb getting picked on all day because it seemed for the time being that theirs was better. so first thing this morning i put the carb i just got from you we warmed it up and started to dyno the motor i was busy tearing a motor apart by then when i noticed a great silence from the dyno room, with curiosity killing me i had to find out the results. if looks could kill id be dead. with the carb i just got off of you the motor dynoed at max peak hp of 151.4 at 6600 rpm and 158 ft pds max torque at 5500 rpm and carried it all the way through the run. keep in mind that all runs are stopped at 7000 rpm after all its a chevette not a V8. greatly impressed the guys at the shop took back all remarks and told me i had a keeper. i think dennis the guy who makes carbs there was a little jelous, and dissapointed but what does he expect. the guys motor that was being dynoed is exactly to the tee identicle to mine so now i know what i got. the shop owner even reduced himself to recommend your carb to the man who owns the motor we tested. so if you get a call from a guy named ben in a couple of days dont be supprised. . thanks for the great carb will try to keep you informed thanks tj.

Ready to race Chevette carb !

I would like to comment on few items.

First, it's obvious the carburetor I did two years ago, if that is correct, probably needs looked at. It *should* perform as well as all the other carbs I prepare, unless it has dirt in it, or something else is wrong.

Also, the second carb, while putting out some impressive numbers, was in no way optimized for this engine, or a dyno test session. I was unaware that this carburetor was going to be tested on a dyno. It would be interesting to see what it would do if optimized for conditions. Of course, it's possible that it is already as good as it can be, but this is unlikely.

You want power ?  Give me a call, or an email.
