The "ra" (Ralph Williamson ) 'vet
Real nice example of an older 'vet. I especially like the front spoiler addition.
Van cluster installed in Ralph's 'vet.
How Ralph installed the front spoiler:
I should mention that none of the clip is correct for my year (its
an '81)
to get the spoiler on the front of my car I removed the roll pan? (I don't know what its
called) if your looking at the front of the car with the grill and bumper removed there is
a flat sheet of metal that the bumper shocks bolt to if you follow it down it makes a
right angle back the roll pan is spot welded to the front of this and to the angle at the
bottom I used a grinder to remove the spot welds without cutting into the metal sheet then
at the bottom I bolted a shelving leg (one of those cheap sheet metal shelve things it
looks like a piece of angle iron with a bunch of holes in it) after mounting the fenders I
bolted the spoiler up to the fenders then used blocks to hold it up level in the front
then I took the mounting rods (these came off the vette at the junk yard 2 were about
5-6" long the other 2 were about 10-12" I used one of each on each side) and
loosely bolted them to the spoiler at the corners and to the shelving leg in the center of
the spoiler there are two holes one on top of the other I made a u shape out of part of
the roll pan and used that to bolt the center to the leg after making sure the spoiler
lined up and looked right I tightened up the bolts and removed the blocks
this has worked out pretty good (its been there about 5 years now)however the whole thing
is kind of flimsy it stays put going down the road but if you hit something its all over I
have a welder now and have been meaning to get the factory stuff that holds the spoiler up
and weld that in
