A pair of matching 1981 Chevette's !

Just the other day, I was driving through a subdivision adjacent to mine, and much to my astonishment, a Chevette identical to mine ( almost ) was sitting next to a house with no plates. Long story short, I acquired the car, and hauled it home the next day. This car was less than two miles from me for a long time !

It is a 1981 Chevette, gasoline engine with auto trans. It has factory air conditioning, rear defroster, power steering, cloth interior, dual sport mirrors, soft ray tinted glass, swing out rear windows, 3:70 rear axle, ( found the build sheet under the drivers seat ) and is in rust free, dent free condition. To say the floors are rust free is an understatement. They are still actually factory maroon, and are literally perfect. The headliner is even perfect.

If only my Diesel car floors looked like this.( I had to replace the drivers side. The rest is OK. ) I have other pictures of this perfect floorboard, but they don't do it justice.

These two cars are about as closely matched as possible. Everything about them is identical as far as appearance. Same EXACT  interior also ! Well, the gas car is not a GT of course. :-)

Black grille added by me. It's from a 1985 Chevette I stripped out. Red Bow Tie optional.

No trailer hitch on the underpowered gas car !

Identical maroon interiors, and everything else ! Diesel Car in foreground.

I haven't completely decided what to do with it yet. ( this makes seven cars for me, and is too many ! ), so I will probably be moving it to storage until I make up my mind. Chances are I am going to swap the doors, hood, rear hatch, interior seats, panels, dash pad, etc. to my Diesel car, as the pieces in the gas car are in excellent condition.

On the other hand, I thought it would be interesting to have a matching pair of Chevette's to drive around in, but just don't know. Automotive costs tend to add up after a while, and seven cars is a little silly.
